Matt & Tony’s Wood Fired Kitchen Has Something For Everyone

There’s no shortage of places to get a great meal in Downtown Columbus.

But when it comes to a killer meal at a decent price point, it’s not always as easy to find a restaurant as you may want it to be. Luckily, Matt & Tony’s Wood Fired Kitchen is open and ready to fill the void.

The restaurant opened in mid-September, taking over the former home of CBC Restaurant at 525 Short Street. The restaurant is the newest concept from Pat & Gracie’s owners, Matt Rootes and Tony Wildman and offers a menu focused on contemporary American cuisine.

From prime steaks and seafood to sandwiches and salad options, it’s the kind of place where you can take the whole family.

We stopped in during lunch and decided to test out some of the items on the earlier menu. We kicked off our meal with Deviled Egg Toast. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect and I fell in love. It was flavorful and the perfect way to start our experience at Matt & Tony’s.

Since it was lunchtime, I knew I didn’t want anything too heavy, like what I’m sure would have been a perfectly cooked steak. Instead, I opted for a cheeseburger. It was fantastic, although I can’t say that it was particularly lighter. But I honestly didn’t care.

In addition to the wonderful food, the service was efficient and our server, in particular, was so joyful.

Overall, the experience at Matt and Tony’s exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for a nice place to have a delicious meal without dropping $100, this is the spot for you.
