Relax, Unwind, and Reconnect at Shawnee State Park’s Nature Wellness Weekend

If your brain is running on empty and your stress levels are through the roof, it might be time to step away from the screens and into the woods. Shawnee State Park’s 3rd Annual Nature Wellness Weekend is happening May 16-18, and it’s the perfect excuse to unplug, reset, and soak in some serious nature vibes.

Think of it as a low-key, no-pressure retreat designed to help you reconnect with nature—without having to, you know, completely rough it. Hosted by Shawnee State Park Lodge, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Friends of Shawnee State Park, Inc., the weekend is all about moving your body, quieting your mind, and having fun outdoors.

You can choose from guided hikes, creek play, nature art, wild edible plant identification, and more. It’s a mix of relaxation and adventure—whether you want to explore the trails or just sit by the water and breathe in that fresh air, there’s no wrong way to do it.

If you haven’t been to Shawnee State Park, you’re in for a treat. Tucked away in the Appalachian foothills, this stunning park is often called “Ohio’s Little Smokies” thanks to its rolling hills, misty mornings, and deep, forested beauty. It’s the kind of place where you can lose cell service but find your inner peace.

Shawnee is home to over 60 miles of trails, diverse wildlife, and some of the most scenic views in the state. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just here for the vibes, it’s easy to see why people keep coming back.
