The best places in the city for a Columbus Crew fan to let that black and gold flag fly.
So you’re a Columbus Crew fan. You’re rocking the Jersey, that black and gold scarf, heck, you even have the face paint going because your fanaticism knows no bounds. But now that you’ve got the look going, where’s a good place to get a pint and watch the game? Once again Columbus, we’ve got your back. Here’s a list of the most black and gold bars in the city for you to get your hooligan on.
The Three-Legged Mare
This Irish Pub has 15 different TVs and two giant projectors so you don’t have to crane your neck to catch all of that futbol action. With a regular watch party happening for Crew games, this pub’s the perfect place to kick back and watch our boys run the field.
Brewcadia
Brewcadia has 40 different beer taps on top of a whole list of classic arcade and board games. They also offer some pretty cool video game themed cocktails and pizzas for you to enjoy along with your Crew game.
Big Room Bar
A so called “Bar with a radio problem”, this official Crew bar regularly provides live music shows from acts both local and nationally known. Sponsored by CD 102.5, this is a pretty hip place to catch weeknight shows, you know, when the game isn’t on that is.
Hampton’s on King
With a huge food menu for both brunch and late night bar food, Hampton’s has everything you’ll need to satiate that appetite for victory while you take in the game. Everything looks and tastes great, but if you’re feeling especially frisky check out the breakfast sushi rolls.
Smokehouse Brewing Company
Smoke House advertises a slew of their home brewed taps as well as plenty of guests beers. You’re bound to find a pint of something you’ll like to pair up with a good full day of soccer watchin’.
Hendoc’s Pub
Home base for the Hudson Street Hooligans, and trust me, these guys don’t mess around. Some of the most dedicated of Crew fans, you’ll find them either tailgating before the game, section 141 of Crew stadium, or at Hendoc’s, cheering on the Crew and generally being hooligans.
Oldfield’s
With a constantly rotating beer tap, this pub is constantly trying to shake it up and try new stuff. Open since 2013 it’s certainly one of the younger Crew bars around but it’s got personality in spades.
Oldfield’s North Fourth Tavern
Woodlands Tavern
Not only is it an awesome place to catch the game but it’s also a pretty great venue for music and comedy acts. With a great patio area and food made by Challah (which serves a menu inspired by Jewish comfort food), you’re sure to have a great time among fellow Crew fans.
Land-Grant Brewing Company
How many Crew bars can claim to have home brewed, specialty beer, inspired by the Columbus Crew themselves? Land-Grant’s Glory is just that, a delicious and drinkable Americal Wheat Ale with just enough of a hops finish. This can rocks the black and gold so it will definitely match the face paint you’ve, no doubt, got going on.
Zauber Brewing Company
A hip brewing company and bar out of Grandview, they offer a selection of home-brewed German and Belgian style ales. Be sure to check them out on Wednesdays for their soccer and board game nights. An odd combination, to be sure, but one that seems to be working.
