From February 2 through February 26, McFerson Commons will be transformed into a winter wonderland. Winter Park will return, featuring an NHL-sized ice rink that is open for public skating, hockey, and a variety of community events.

The outdoor rink has a skate rental area, as well as four heated locker rooms. Up to 250 people can sit on the bleachers surrounding the rink.

On January 31, the Columbus Blue Jackets will host an open practice. Fans are encouraged to come and watch the players for free. The practice begins at noon.

Public skate times for the park have not yet been announced. The park will also feature a large video screen, which will be showing select Blue Jackets games for fans on the ice.

Opening weekend at the park will also feature the 5th Line 5K, presented by Ohio Health. Registration for the race includes two tickets to select Blue Jackets games, finishers medal, and a long sleeve race t-shirt.

The 5K will take place on February 4 and you can register here. Registration is $60 until January 15, and $65 until race day, or until it sells out.

Winter Park is located at McFerson Commons, directly across from Nationwide Arena, at 218 West St, Columbus, OH 43215.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty excited for this. Who knows, maybe you’ll see me there! I’ll be the one in the Might Ducks gear chanting “quack, quack, quack”.
