It had been five years since she left our city when Andrea Cambern made plans to come back to Ohio. The Columbus news icon was set to return on Saturday, May 20, 2017 for the 25th Annual Komen Columbus Race for the Cure. Pink wig in hand, Cambern announced the news on April 12, 2017.
Cambern was a news anchor on WBNS 10-TV from 1991 until she moved to California in 2012. During her time behind the news desk, the reporter received multiple awards including six Emmys, the National Association of Television Journalists named her Female Anchor of the Year, and she has been awarded many honors by the Associated Press.
Cambern was inducted in the Ohio Radio and Television Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2007.
The reporter shared this picture on Facebook to commemorate her homecoming. The sand reads, “#CbusRFTC May 20.” We think she’s excited to come back to Columbus. We’re excited to see her.
