Two Columbus Restaurants Earned AAA’s 2018 Four Diamond Award

For yet another year, M at Miranova and The Refectory Restaurant and Bistro have been awarded a Four Diamond Award from AAA.

M at Miranova was recognized for the 12th year in a row, while 2018 marks the 23rd year of the award for The Refectory. Although Columbus has gotten used to these two restaurants getting national recognition, the AAA awards are rare. According to AAA, 2.1% of 31,000 restaurants in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean are honored with the award.

In Ohio, just four other restaurants received the award, including Boca Restaurant, Nicola’s, and The Palace Restaurant in Cincinnati and Lola in Cleveland.

“To uphold the exceptional standards required on a daily basis to attain this rating is an outstanding achievement,” said Michael Patrone, director of AAA inspections and diamond ratings in a statement. “AAA Four Diamond restaurants go above and beyond in attending to guests’ needs and delivering memorable dining experiences.”

What do the ratings mean? According to AAA, the Four Diamond Rating means that restaurants offer “Distinctive fine-dining. Creative preparations, skillfully served, often with wine steward, amid upscale ambiance.”

The highest rating, the Five Diamond Award, was only awarded to one Ohio restaurant: Orchids at Palm Court in Cincinnati.
