Some nights, cooking just isn’t happening, and Columbus has an enormous bench of restaurants that will box up dinner to-go or drop it at your door. This is my running list of the ones worth ordering from, sorted by cuisine, so scroll to whatever you’re craving. Spot a place that closed or changed how it does takeout? Columbus has takeout depth in every direction: Cuban plates from Starliner Diner in Hilliard, pho at 61Pho in Clintonville, German Village pizza from Plank’s, and ice cream delivery from Graeter’s and Jeni’s. The full list below runs cuisine by cuisine, and every spot on it has been verified open.

Latin cuisine

Tacos, Cuban diners, and Peruvian sandwiches. The spread here runs well past Tex-Mex.

  • El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant has carryout and delivery at all of its locations. Order online or call in.
  • Pablo’s Havana Café serves its homemade Cuban food from a stall at North Market Bridge Park in Dublin, with takeout and delivery. Details here.
  • Si Senor Peruvian Sandwiches in Grandview is open for carryout with online ordering, plus delivery via Uber Eats.
  • Starliner Diner in Hilliard, aka my favorite Cuban-inspired diner, does carryout and delivery through DoorDash. Find something you like on the menu, then call 614-529-1198.

Asian cuisine

Sushi, pho, poke, Thai, and Filipino, all boxed up to go.

  • 61Pho in Clintonville does carryout and delivery through the delivery apps. Call 614-706-4903 for pickup, and check the menu first.
  • Akai Hana in north Columbus does sushi to-go. View the menu here and order by calling 614-451-5411.
  • Bangkok Grocery & Restaurant on Refugee Rd is the city’s Thai benchmark, and it’s built for takeout: order at the counter, then shop the attached Thai grocery while you wait. Open Tuesday through Sunday until 6. Menu and updates here.
  • Hai Poke builds its poke bowls for takeout and delivery out of Land Grant Brewing (424 W. Town St.) and North Market Bridge Park. Locations and ordering here.

Brewery kitchens and gastropubs doing beer-and-a-burger to go.

  • 101 Craft Kitchen (formerly 101 Beer Kitchen) does carryout and delivery from its Dublin, Gahanna, and Westerville locations. Menu and ordering here.

Barbecue

Smoked meat travels better than almost anything else on this list.

Columbus has one of the biggest Somali communities in the country, and the food is a natural to-go order.

Carryout and delivery FAQ

Is Postmates still available in Columbus?

No. Uber folded Postmates into Uber Eats back in 2021. If an old list tells you to order through Postmates, use Uber Eats instead; the same restaurants are almost always on it.

Which Columbus ice cream shops deliver?

Graeter’s and Jeni’s both run delivery through their own online ordering, and Johnson’s Real Ice Cream delivers locally from its shops. All three also do plain old walk-in pints.

Which Columbus breweries do carryout food?

Wolf’s Ridge (downtown), Forbidden Root (Easton), Hofbrauhaus (Grandview Yard), and Land-Grant, where Hai Poke and Ray Ray’s handle the food, will all box up dinner to go.
