My air conditioning went out recently in 100-degree weather and the suffering? Immense. Next time I’m calling the Nestrs and treating it like an insta-vacation, because look at this amazingness.
This amazing, 750 square foot space is the perfect way to celebrate a weekend in Columbus, whether it’s 100 degrees out or not. The apartment has one bedroom, one bathroom, and so much vintage charm. The property is run by Airbnb Super Host’s and local design and renovation gurus, Sarah and Nick of Nestrs.
The duo decided they wanted to do something extra special with the small space, so they partnered up with Dan Wisniewski from D&W Elements, a local graphic design company that fuses modern design with vintage elements.
“We see Dan’s stuff all over town all the time, hanging up in bars, restaurants, homes. People walking around with his t-shirts on, stickers on their computers,” said Sarah. “There is so much pride here in Columbus and D&W Elements celebrates that. So, what better way to get Columbus travelers excited for their stay than to surround them in local artwork?”
The art, combined with the thoughtful design elements Sarah brought into the space, create a one-of-a-kind Airbnb.
There are plenty of Instagrammable moments throughout the Airbnb, including the Columbus wall. There’s also an opportunity for guests to take home some Columbus-themed merch from right in the apartment.
“We get a ton of OSU parents who stay with us. So, we’re operating off of the honor system and selling D&W products right there in the Airbnb,” explained Sarah. “If they want to bring souvenirs back home with them or show their kids their support, they can grab their own Ohio garb without making an extra trip.”
In the bedroom, guests will find a hand-painted mural of the Columbus skyline, created by Dan but painted by Sarah and Nick.
The Airbnb is located in the 5th by Northwest neighborhood. It offers easy access for guests to downtown, OSU campus, Grandview, and so much more. Nestrs loves making suggestions for their guests in the area, and some of their favorites include Sweet Carrot, Aab, Staufs, The Grandview Cafe, and La Tavola.
