Construction Has Officially Begun On The Massive Scioto Peninsula Development Project

The Scioto Peninsula project has officially broken ground.

Columbus Downtown Development Corp., the developer behind the massive project, has begun construction on the first four buildings of the project, now called The Peninsula, with a projected opening of Phase 1 buildings in September 2022.

The four buildings include:

  • An 8-story, 250,000 sq. ft. office building
  • An 8-story, 200-room hotel
  • Two mixed-use buildings with retail space and 329 residential units.

The large office building will have ground-floor retail space available, 5,000 square feet of it to be exact. The hotel will have both a lobby and rooftop bar, as well as meeting spaces and ground-floor retail options.

Over in the mixed-use buildings, residents will find a rooftop pool and a sky deck, as well as a private skywalk between buildings for tenant use only. Each unit in the 11 and 6 story buildings will have their own balconies with unique views of Downtown Columbus and the Franklinton area.

When the project is completed, it will offer up to 2 million square feet of office space, 1,800 residential units, and up to 400 hotel rooms. Hundreds of thousands of square feet of retail space will open up and a 1,400-space garage will help provide additional parking in the area.

The timeline for the full completion of the project is around 10 years.
