Nestled in the rolling hills of Gambier, Oh you’ll find one of our state’s most beautiful treasures.
The Schnormeier Gardens are one of Ohio’s best-kept secrets. The gardens were started by Ted and Ann Schnormeier in 1996 and have grown to include 50 acres of manicured lawns, lakes, waterfalls, and sculptures.
At the center of it all is a beautiful, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home, which was completed in 1994. Throughout the rest of the property, you’ll find a Japanese teahouse, a garden house, a Chinese pavilion, and even an arched bridge.
The gardens are only open to the public during the month of June and visits will be reservation only. The gardens are very popular so you’ll need to make reservations early. Visitors can come and enjoy the many gorgeous spaces for themselves Thursday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The gardens are perfect for a day of exploring, but it should be noted that the gardens are not easily accessible for those in wheelchairs or with mobility issues.
Although tickets for the 2023 season aren’t on sale yet, they typically cost $50 per vehicle. You’ll have your choice between either a 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. arrival time. You’ll find the gardens at 8701 Laymon Rd, Gambier, OH 43022.
