Buckeye fans already know that a big Ohio State football game can turn into a full travel adventure. Now, United Airlines is making two of this season’s biggest matchups a little easier to attend.
The airline is adding special flights between Columbus and two major college football destinations this fall: Austin, Texas, for Ohio State’s road matchup against the Longhorns, and Eugene, Oregon, for the Ducks’ visit to Ohio Stadium.
For fans heading south for the September 12 game at Texas, United will add a flight from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) to Austin (AUS) on September 11, with a return flight on September 13.
Then in November, Oregon fans making the trip to Columbus will get a new option as United adds a flight from Eugene (EUG) to Columbus on November 6, with a return flight from Columbus to Eugene on November 8.
The flights are part of United’s larger college football schedule expansion, which includes more than 30 new routes and thousands of additional seats for some of the biggest games of the season.
The Texas matchup is one of the most anticipated games on Ohio State’s 2026 schedule.
The Buckeyes will travel to Austin on September 12 for their first meeting with the Longhorns since 2005.
The November matchup might be even bigger for Columbus fans. Oregon will come to Ohio Stadium on November 7 in a rematch of the 2025 Rose Bowl, giving Buckeye fans a chance to host one of the biggest programs in college football.
While both Austin and Eugene are popular destinations, getting there isn’t always simple. The new United flights give fans another option without having to build an itinerary around multiple connections.
And let’s be honest, anyone who’s planned a college football road trip knows that the flight is often the easiest part. Finding tickets, booking hotels, and convincing your friends to commit are where the real challenges begin.
Ohio State football has become a major travel draw, bringing fans across the country for both home and away games.
United says the added flights are part of an effort to help fans get to some of college football’s biggest moments this season.
“As fans get ready to cheer on their favorite teams this fall, we’re adding flights across the country to college football’s biggest matchups,” Michael Weeks, Managing Director of Domestic Schedule Development at United, said in a statement.
“From action-packed games to historic rivalries – these are the moments fans look forward to, and we’re thrilled to help them get there,” said Weeks.
