Mid-Ohio Food Collective has big plans for Southeast Columbus, and it’s all coming together with the new Eastland Prosperity Center.
The former Kroger on Refugee Road is getting a major makeover, transforming into a community service hub that will make a real difference for thousands of Central Ohio residents. And thanks to a $4 million investment from the City of Columbus, this project is one step closer to reality.
Set to open in 2026, the Eastland Prosperity Center will be a one-stop destination for vital services like food assistance, healthcare, and social support. This 67,000-square-foot space will house a free food market, a community health clinic, and even help with SNAP and Medicaid applications.
It will also offer city services like WIC and CelebrateOne offices, all working together to serve around 100,000 people each year from the Eastland neighborhood and beyond.

Mid-Ohio Food Collective is leading the charge, but they’re not doing it alone. The project is a collaboration with the City of Columbus and other community partners, like the Greater South East Area Commission and Liberians in Columbus. The goal? To create a space where everyone in the community has access to healthy food, healthcare, and the support they need to thrive.
The best part is that the center is being designed with direct input from the Eastland community itself.
After asking neighbors what they need most, the responses—healthy food, accessible healthcare, maternal care, and other social supports—have been central to shaping the services that will be offered at the Eastland Prosperity Center.
As 2026 approaches, more details will be shared about the full list of services available at the center, but one thing is clear: this is going to be a game-changer for the Eastland community.
