This Weekend You Can Tour The Iconic Longaberger Basket Building

If you grew up in Central Ohio, then you know exactly what the former Longaberger Company headquarters looked like.

If you didn’t, let me give you a hint: the company made wildly popular baskets. The building is one of our state’s best-known office buildings because it is, quite literally, a giant basket. The 180,000-square-foot building, known as the “Big Basket” is seven stories high. If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like on the inside, you’re not alone.

You’re also in luck. This weekend, visitors will have the rare opportunity to tour the Big Basket. On Sunday, October 20th, you can take a peek at the first and second floors of the building, hear stories and company lore from Longaberger family members and former employees, as well as enjoy a picnic outside of the basket.

The building was built in 1995 when Longaberger basket popularity was climbing towards their peak. Like I said before, if you grew up in Ohio then you were all too familiar with Longaberger. I can pretty much guarantee that someone in your family had one or two in their homes.

Food trucks will be on-site and live music will be blaring from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. The Big Basket is located at 1500 E Main St, Newark, OH 43055.
