Say Aloha! The Grass Skirt Tiki Room Is Closing

After seven years, the Grass Skirt Tiki Room will be closing their doors.

The tiki bar opened in back in 2012 and was crucial to the revival of tiki culture here in Columbus. The bar shared the update with their followers on social media on Thursday.

“After careful consideration, we have chosen not to renew our lease, resulting in our last day of operation being Saturday Aug 24th. In the meantime, we will run with a streamlined menu and hours to better serve the anticipated crowds,” they wrote.

Starting immediately, new hours at Grass Skirt will be Tuesday-Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. The bar will keep these hours, along with a limited menu until August 24th.

While patrons and fans of the bar will be understandably disappointed, this isn’t the end of the organization.

“Look for our new concept, SheCreature Cocktails, to launch in late 2019 as a pop-up at Ace of Cups,” they shared on Facebook. “Although it saddens us to leave this location, we are excited to have been part of the tiki revival here in Columbus, and thrilled that tiki offerings in town have expanded beyond our wildest dreams since we opened in 2012. We are looking forward to bringing our experience and love of tiki to focusing on finely-crafted cocktails in a new space.”

The bar will be hosting The Hula Hop on August 10th, where they’ll be serving up Mai Tais, Zombies, and Sneaky Tikis and celebrating the last 7 years of business they’ve enjoyed at their 105 N. Grant Ave. location.
