Mobile Produce Markets Are Offering Free Produce To Families In Need Around Columbus

Columbus Recreation and Parks, Columbus City Schools, and the Mid-Ohio Food Collective are teaming up to bring fresh produce to families in need around the city.

The Mobile Produce Markets will offer boxes of free produce to families from 3:30-5 p.m., several Thursdays & Fridays throughout August and September. The amount of fresh produce distributed to each eligible family (200% or below of the Federal Poverty Level) is approximately a one week supply based on the family size.

To ensure the safety of residents and volunteers, Mobile Produce Markets are set up as a drive-thru and staffed by volunteers wearing masks and gloves who load the produce directly into the trunk or car. The pickup orders will also include masks.

The collaboration was formed to provide free access to nutritious produce during the COVID-19 pandemic and to help stem the negative impacts of food insecurity on Columbus’ most vulnerable families. In addition to the produce boxes, the Mobile Produce Markets will also be serving free meals to children.
