You Can Make Ice Cream And Sip Espresso Martinis At This New Pop-Up

The Kitchen is launching a brand new pop-up series, and it’s all about ice cream. Called a “Sundae Fundae”, the experience blends hands-on learning, chef-led storytelling, and plenty of sweets into one seriously fun night out.

The series will spotlight The Dusty Touch Ice Cream, created by Executive Chef Dustin Boninsegna, who will be leading guests through the entire experience. Before launching his ice cream concept, Boninsegna was working at a science museum in Dayton, experimenting with ways to make ice cream using liquid nitrogen and dry ice.

After moving to Columbus, he brought that same curiosity into the kitchen at The Kitchen, where he now leads hands-on dining experiences. His approach to ice cream blends science and creativity, using everything from classic custard bases to unexpected ingredients and flavor combinations.

The event isn’t just a demo. The Kitchen is known for its participatory events, and this pop-up is no different.

Guests will get to take part in an interactive tasting that pairs an espresso martini with French vanilla bean ice cream, which honestly sounds like a combo worth showing up for on its own.

Before the main event, there will be light bites like charcuterie, strawberry with whipped brie, and heirloom tomato tartlets to snack on while you settle in. Afterward, the night wraps up with a full ice cream sampling, and everyone heads home with a pint of The Dusty Touch to keep the good vibes going.

That curiosity shows up in the flavors, too.

The Dusty Touch is known for experimenting with combinations like rosemary olive oil, strawberry basil, and even maple bleu cheese, with many ingredients sourced right here in Ohio.

Tickets are $65 per person and include the food, the cocktail pairing, and the take-home pint. The event is 21+ due to the alcohol pairing, and you’ll want to grab tickets ahead of time since space is limited.

If your ideal night involves learning something new and eating a lot of ice cream while you do it, this one feels like a no-brainer. For more info, head over to thekitchencolumbus.com.
