Cobra, the Brewery District hotspot, has done it again—this time, earning a prestigious spot on Punch Drink’s list of the Best New Bars in the Nation for 2024.
Cobra has established itself as a fan-favorite in Columbus fairly quickly, blending laid-back vibes with standout cocktails and a menu that keeps patrons coming back for more.
Punch Drink’s recognition highlights Cobra’s ability to create an atmosphere that promises “a good night, every night.” Their write-up describes the bar as “a self-described ‘good night bar’ that’s quickly become a favorite among local bartenders.” With a bold neon sign beckoning visitors, it’s hard to miss the energy Cobra brings to the Brewery District.
The bar’s aesthetic doesn’t go overboard—it’s unpretentious yet stylish, the perfect successor to the iconic Claremont, which closed in 2012 after 65 years. Now transformed with black-painted ceilings and polished concrete floors, the team at Cobra, led by co-owners David Yee and Alex Chien, brings Asian-inspired twists to classic drinks.
Punch Drink specifically shouted out the “Above Ground Pool,” a twist on the Margarita featuring mango, serrano-cilantro cordials, and a Sichuan salt rim. It’s no wonder it’s their best-seller.
If you haven’t been to Cobra yet, now is the time.
The bar is open every day except Tuesday, from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., offering a casual yet vibrant experience whether you’re looking for expertly crafted drinks or a laid-back night out.
Punch Drink describes Cobra as a bar where “there is little fanfare attached to how the drinks are presented” but where “it can live up to its slogan and turn any night into a good night.” So, if you’re looking for a new spot to hang out in Columbus, you can’t go wrong with Cobra.
Cobra is located at 684 S. High St, Columbus, OH, 43206. For more info about the bar, head over to cobrabarcolumbus.com.
