Listen up, Columbus DIYers. The Grand Re-Opening of the Tool Library is going down on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 10 AM to 4 PM. After a brief closure for restructuring, the Tool Library is back and better than ever, ready to continue serving the community with even more resources and improved accessibility.
What to Expect at the Grand Re-Opening
The Grand Re-Opening event promises to be a day full of activities and opportunities to reconnect with this valuable community resource. Attendees can enjoy guided tours of the Tool Library, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the improvements and the extensive inventory available for borrowing. Additionally, there will be a yard sale featuring previously donated excess tools, giving members and visitors a chance to purchase useful items at great prices.
For current members, there’s an added bonus: all active memberships will be extended by 90 days to compensate for the temporary closure. This thoughtful gesture ensures that everyone can fully benefit from the Library’s services without losing any membership time.
New and Improved Hours
Listening to community feedback, Modcon Living has adjusted the Tool Library’s hours to better accommodate its members. The new schedule is designed to provide more flexibility:
These extended hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays are particularly beneficial for those who found it difficult to visit during the previous schedule. Plus, members can now reserve gas-powered tools, a new addition that broadens the range of projects that can be tackled with the Library’s resources.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Tool Library thrives on community involvement, and Modcon Living is reaching out for volunteers to help keep this essential service running smoothly. They are seeking volunteers with skills in small engine/electrical repair, cashier/front desk duties, and clerical/office tasks. Volunteers can choose the days and hours that suit their schedules, making it a flexible and rewarding way to give back to the community. As they say, many hands make light work!
Looking Ahead
Modcon Living is also planning exciting new initiatives for the future. Keep an eye out for announcements regarding a new membership level specifically for small businesses and independent contractors. This new level aims to provide tailored support to local entrepreneurs and tradespeople, further enhancing the Tool Library’s role in the community.
Additionally, updates are coming for the Safe at Home program, which helps ensure that seniors and disabled individuals can live safely and independently in their homes. These updates will likely expand the program’s reach and impact, benefiting even more residents in need.
A Community Resource Reimagined
The Tool Library is a hub for community engagement, skill-building, and mutual support. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast, a professional contractor, or someone who occasionally needs a specific tool, the Tool Library is here to make your projects more accessible and affordable.
So, mark your calendars for May 20th and join the celebration. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the new and improved Tool Library, snag some great deals at the yard sale, and see firsthand how Modcon Living is working to better serve the Columbus and Franklin County communities.
