Big things are happening in Downtown Columbus. The Estrella, a massive new mixed-use development, is officially moving forward at the corner of East Rich and South Fourth streets. The $122 million project just landed a $4.5 million tax credit from the state, and demolition is set to begin this spring to clear the way.
So what’s coming?
A 24-story residential tower packed with apartments, restaurants, office space, event venues, and even a grocery store. That last one is a big deal since the area has been lacking easy access to fresh food options. The Estrella is aiming to change that.
And if you’re into skyline views, this place is bringing the heat. The rooftop restaurant will be the first true 360-degree patio sky deck in Columbus, offering insane views of the Scioto Mile and the entire Downtown area. On the 7th floor, there will be a pool, fire pits, and green space, making it one of the best places in the city to chill above the hustle.
One of the biggest concerns when this project was first announced was that it would replace some beloved spots like Dirty Frank’s and 16-Bit. Thankfully, Bluestone Brothers Development revised their plans to keep those businesses in place, so you won’t have to say goodbye to your Puff the Magic Popper or Pac-Man session.
Beyond just changing the skyline, The Estrella is bringing jobs. It’s expected to create over 1,200 construction jobs and more than 800 permanent positions. To learn more about The Estrella development, please visit theestrellacolumbus.com.
