The Best Donuts In Columbus

Picture this. It’s Monday morning, you’re dreading work, and there’s only one thing you can think of that will make your day better.

Okay, you definitely shouldn’t be punching people for donuts, but I do understand the urge. Sometimes, all you need to turn a frown upside down is a delicious, yeasty (that’s right I mean it as a good thing) donut. It doesn’t matter if you’re searching for a traditional glazed donut or a piece of miniature, edible art, you’ll find the donut you want–nay, need.

Buckeye Donuts

Location: 1363 S High St, Columbus, OH 43207 and 1998 N High St, Columbus, OH 43201
Hours: Open 24 hours
All about the Donuts: Buckeye Donuts may be the most iconic donut shop in Columbus. There are two locations, both on opposite ends of High Street. No matter where you stop in, you should absolutely order the signature Buckeye Donut, made with peanut butter and chocolate. I also think they have the best apple fritters in the city (if you’re into that sort of thing.)

Amy’s Donuts

Location: 650 Georgesville Rd, Columbus, OH 43228
Hours: Open 24 hours
All about the Donuts: When Amy’s Donuts says they have gourmet donuts, they mean it. Some of the pastries are pretty intricate and are basically the definition of extra. But if you’re looking for a sugary sweet overload, this is the place to go. I love their cereal series, which is an airy, doughy donut topped with icing and your choice of cereal. I go for the Fruity Pebbles, but you do you.

Destination Donuts

Location: North Market, 59 Spruce St, Columbus, OH 43215
Hours: Sunday-Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
All about the Donuts: I love going to the North Market, especially when I have a chance to stop in at Destination Donuts. My absolute favorite treat is the Salted Caramel & Toasted Pecan donut. If you’re lucky enough to snag one (their flavors change all the time, so no guarantees) you won’t regret it.

Peace Love And Little Donuts

Location: 656 High St, Worthington, OH 43085
Hours: Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.
All about the Donuts: This quirky little donut shop is truly unique. They’ve got three categories of donuts: Groovy, Far Out, and Funkadelic. If you’re looking for more traditional donuts, stick to the Groovy and Far Out Donuts. But if you want to push the boundaries of what you know about donuts, go for the Funkadelic choices. The S’mores donut is out of this world.

Golden Donuts & Diner

Location: 1928 Lockbourne Rd, Columbus, OH 43207
Hours: Monday-Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Sunday.
All about the Donuts: Golden Donuts & Diner is the best hidden gem when it comes to breakfast diners in Columbus. But they also make some KILLER donuts. I recommend the Blueberry Cake donut or anything custard-filled.

Duck Donuts

Location: 825 Polaris Pkwy, Westerville, OH 43082
Hours: Sunday-Thursday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
All about the Donuts: Want to get a little creative with your donuts? Go to Duck Donuts. The ordering process kicks off with a vanilla cake donut, which is made fresh when you order. After that, you’re in control as you choose your coating, toppings, and drizzle. Get creative and let me know what you like, that way I can order it next time.

Tupelo Doughnuts

Location: Click here for food truck locations
Hours: Hours vary by truck
All about the Donuts: I’ve never, ever, had a bad donut from Tupelo Doughnuts. They are yeasty and fluffy and their flavor combinations are always delicious. If I had to choose just one to suggest, I would tell you to go for the Creme Brulee filled donut. It has this perfect custard filling with carmalized sugar on top and it’s definitely the kind of donut you’ll be dreaming about later in the day.
