Second Date Social Is Changing The Way That Columbus Dates

💸 This post is sponsored by Second Date Social. But rest assured, all thoughts and opinions contained within are genuine and our own. 👍🏼

If there’s one thing most people can agree on it’s that dating can be a real pain in the neck sometimes. From swiping left to awkwardly silent blind dates, there’s a lot to be unenthused about when it comes to dating. Luckily for Columbus, we’ve got Nicci Sprouse-Grosso and Derek Grosso.

Derek and Nicci are the founders of Second Date Social, a membership platform dedicated to making dating more enjoyable for single people in Columbus. The duo combined their own professional experience to create this new take on a singles group. Nicci has years of experience as an executive matchmaker and Derek has created successful social and networking groups, like the Columbus Young Professionals Club.

“It’s honestly a collaboration of both of ours. We married our professions, in a sense. Myself, I’ve been an executive matchmaker and owning my own company for almost 10 years now,” said Nicci.

Members of Second Date Social are vetted, each passing background checks, which gives members a piece of mind you can’t always find with online dating. The group also has a wide variety of members, with tons of careers and interests covered.

“It’s not just people who have a square career where they dress up in a suit go to work, and they work in a law office or accounting. We have lots of people who are artists and lots of people who are restauranteurs,” said Derek.

The events thrown by Second Date Social are curated and comfortable, offering people to make connections in low-pressure situations while having fun and enjoying themselves, which sounds like the exact opposite of the stress-filled dating sagas some of us have endured out there.

“I think the events that we’re offering, they’re elevated. You don’t just show up and then you are on your own. Everything’s curated,” explained Nicci.

The service offers different types of meet-up events including social things like trying new restaurants and bars, volunteering and service-based events, as well as sports events.

The biggest thing to realize about Second Date Social is that this isn’t some old-school, tacky singles meet-up. It’s a modern service for a world where people are craving face to face interactions again after the digital era. It’s a place to go out, meet like-minded people, and have a little fun.

“We don’t host singles events, said Derek. “We host events for singles.”

For now, Second Date Social is only available here in Columbus. “We’re working towards launching in other markets, said Nicci. “We also have a waiting list for the LGBTQ community because they’ve heard about us and so we had tons of people reach out,” she continued. The LGBTQ program is currently in the works at Second Date Social, with an advisory board meeting and Nicci and Derek seeing what works and doesn’t work with the current group of members.

The memberships at Second Date Social can be purchased for one month, six months, or 12 months. If you’re interested in learning more, or in diving in headfirst, you can get more info here.
