The New Fire Tower At Scioto Grove Offers Stunning Views

Prepare to elevate your park experience to new heights!

Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks (Metro Parks) is thrilled to announce an exciting milestone that will take your breath away. The grand opening of the fire tower at Scioto Grove Metro Park is just around the corner, promising panoramic views, historical charm, and a touch of nostalgia that will transport you to another era.

Nestled within the sprawling 620-acre expanse of Scioto Grove Metro Park, this towering marvel is set to be unveiled on Tuesday, August 15 at 10 a.m. Members of the public are invited to join in the occasion, including the opportunity to climb to the top of the tower.

History buffs and nature enthusiasts alike will be captivated by the fire tower’s fascinating origins. Formerly known as the Keystone Fire Lookout, this structure stood tall in Jackson, Ohio, serving as a sentinel over the landscape. A generous donation by an anonymous private landowner facilitated its relocation to the picturesque Scioto Grove Metro Park, where it has been artfully restored and rejuvenated for the delight of visitors.

Metro Parks partnered with Jagger Construction to expertly dismantle, transport, and rebuild the fire tower at its new home. Standing at an impressive 100 feet, the tower now stands as a testament to the past and a portal to big views of both Grove City and the iconic downtown Columbus skyline.

The tower’s summit offers a captivating perspective that embraces the city’s urban energy and the tranquility of the surrounding parklands.

Refurbished by Metro Parks staff, the fire tower boasts new stair treads and windows, blending safety with a touch of rustic allure. This carefully curated experience will be accessible to the public during daylight hours starting August 15, 2023, ensuring that every visitor can partake in the magic of the new feature.
