OhioHealth has announced a new, state-of-the-art outpatient cancer center. The facility will be located across from Riverside Methodist Hospital, transforming the south parking lot of OhioHealth’s administrative campus into a nearly 500,000-square-foot hub for comprehensive cancer treatment.
The new center aims to make care more accessible and streamlined for patients facing complex and aggressive cancers. Services will include radiation oncology, surgical and medical oncology, hematology, infusion, diagnostics, lab work, and several specialized cancer clinics—all under one roof.
“Cancer is scary,” said Dr. Praveen Dubey, OhioHealth Vice President of Cancer Care. “This facility is about more than just medical care; it’s about improving every aspect of the patient experience. We want central Ohio residents to have a convenient, world-class option for complex cancer care close to home.”
Construction on the cancer center is set to begin in spring 2026, with a projected opening in spring 2029. Plans include doubling the size of the current administrative building, adding a new parking garage, and incorporating design elements by the architecture firms Design Group and HKS, with Gilbane serving as the builder.
A Partnership for Better Cancer Care
OhioHealth’s collaboration with Columbus Oncology and Hematology is a key feature of the new center. Columbus Oncology will lease 30,000 square feet of space to provide medical oncology, infusion services, and pharmacy care.
“We’re proud to expand our partnership with OhioHealth through this new center,” said Dr. Joseph Hofmeister, President of Columbus Oncology and Hematology. “By bringing our services together, we’re not only enhancing access to innovative treatments and clinical trials but also ensuring patients receive high-quality care in one integrated location.”
This collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between the two organizations, which already operate cancer centers in Dublin and Westerville.
Why This Matters
The comprehensive cancer center will not only increase access to care but also add roughly 140 new oncology staff over the next decade, boosting OhioHealth’s ability to serve its growing communities. With plans to keep outpatient and inpatient services across their existing footprint, OhioHealth is ensuring patients can still access care locally when they need it.
In a region where cancer care is increasingly vital, this facility will stand as a beacon of hope for patients and families navigating some of life’s toughest challenges.
