Have you ever wondered what it takes to be in the best damn band in the land?
If you don’t know exactly what participating in The Ohio State University Marching Band is all about, now is your chance to find out. A documentary focusing on life inside the band is now available to watch at home.
The award-winning documentary “TBDBITL 141” takes viewers into the 141st season of the marching band, showing the journey from summer practices to taking the field for halftime at Ohio Stadium.
“The Ohio State University Marching Band now has more than 140 years of history behind it, and every season is, in its own right, a story of the remarkable accomplishments of our students,” band director Christopher Hoch said. “Our 141st season was an incredible journey, and I’m thrilled that ‘TBDBITL 141’ will feature our students and the tradition of excellence they maintain.”
The documentary was created by filmmaker and University Communications Director of National Broadcast Media Joe Camoriano. Proceeds from the film will support Ohio State Marching Band scholarship funds.
“Millions of people are familiar with The Ohio State University Marching Band as a result of their jaw-dropping halftime performances on YouTube. But not very many people are aware of how much time and effort goes into these shows,” Camoriano said. “With ‘TBDBITL 141,’ I wanted to pull back the curtain and give the public an opportunity to go on a personal journey with these students.”
The 2018 season features some real highlights for the marching band, including participation in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and a series of halftime shows that wowed the internet. It also features the halftime show during OSU’s win over Michigan, aka Urban Meyer’s last home game as the head football coach.
