Through its carefully curated selection, the trail not only showcases the excellence of Ohio’s dairy industry but also inspires travelers to venture into lesser-explored corners of the state.”

Ranking 11th in the nation for milk production, Ohio boasts a thriving dairy sector, housing over 1,400 dairy farms. The ice cream shops participating in the trail represent the culmination of this dairy legacy, with each establishment offering its own distinctive twist on the beloved frozen treat.

Who made the cut?

Among the trail’s highlights are three notable destinations in Central Ohio. Johnson’s Real Ice Cream in Bexley, a cherished family-owned business for nearly seven decades, has been serving up scoops of nostalgia with their repertoire of over forty traditional flavors.

Meanwhile, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, renowned for their wide range of delectable flavors, captivate visitors with their collaborations featuring local brands such as Middle West Whiskey & Pecans.

A visit to Velvet Ice Cream in Utica, with its charming old-fashioned ice cream mill, guarantees a truly one-of-a-kind experience. This beloved establishment holds a special place in the hearts of many Ohioans who grew up relishing the delightful creations from Velvet Ice Cream.
