An adventure-filled getaway to Hocking Hills is pretty fantastic. But a long day of hiking can be exhausting.
Sure, at most cabins you can hop right in the hot tub and soak away your stress. But what if you’re looking for a more unique way to unwind? That’s where these incredible Sauna Pods come in.
The barrel-shaped cedar saunas feature a floor-to-ceiling fish-ey window over a beautiful Hocking Hills view. Each pod seats four and visitors can connect to music via Bluetooth. Combine your relaxing jams with the built-in mood lighting and you’re ready for a very relaxing afternoon.
The sauna pods can be booked by visitors staying at the Chalets on-site, or by those who are popping in on a day trip.
For visitors staying on-site, you can pop out to your private sauna pod morning, afternoon, and night. If you are only coming in for a visit, you can book the sauna for one hour, two hours, or a full day.
If you want to make the experience extra luxurious, you can even add comfy robes to relax in. Although you book the sauna for longer periods of time, you can expect to spend your time going in and out of the pod.
According to Harvard Medical School, partaking in a sauna session can benefit your heart health, as long as you do it safely.
“A saunas’ dry heat (which can get as high as 185° F) has profound effects on the body. Skin temperature soars to about 104° F within minutes. The average person will pour out a pint of sweat during a short stint in a sauna. The pulse rate jumps by 30% or more, allowing the heart to nearly double the amount of blood it pumps each minute,” says Harvard Health Publishing.
That said, it’s recommended that guests stay in for no longer than 15 minutes at a time with 10-minute breaks in between. Conveniently, there are benches just outside the pods where you can chill in between sessions.
