On Saturday, October 12, the heart of downtown will transform into a vibrant celebration of creativity, community, and Halloween fun at the High Spirits Art & Music Festival!
This inaugural event, hosted by the Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District (SID) in collaboration with the City of Columbus, Downtown Columbus Inc., the Half Baked Art Fund, and the Greater Columbus Arts Council, promises to be an unforgettable day filled with art, music, and a whole lot of spirit.
From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., High Street (between Long and Broad Streets) and Gay Street (between Third and Wall Streets) will be closed to traffic, creating a pedestrian paradise. Whether you’re a fan of festive costumes or just looking to soak in the atmosphere, this festival encourages everyone to come dressed in their Halloween best!
Prepare to explore the Macabre Marketplace, where over 40 local vendors will showcase their unique crafts and creations.
Grab a bite to eat from a variety of food trucks at the Court of Consumption, then check out live art demonstrations that will bring the streets to life. Feeling adventurous? Enjoy circus performances, roller skating, caricature artists, and even some magical moments from wandering magicians!
Music lovers will be treated to three stages featuring a stellar lineup of local and regional talent. The headliner for the night is DeathbyRomy, an electrifying act straight from Los Angeles, who will perform under the stunning “Current” art installation by Janet Echelman.
You can also catch performances by artists like The Lonely Ones, Zoo Trippin, Summore, Electro Cult Circus, The Paisley Bandits, and Frankie Soleil, with street performers and musicians bringing their magic to the festival grounds throughout the day.
“This event will be unlike anything else Columbus has to offer for those looking to get into the Halloween spirit,” said Nick Sinclair, Event Manager for Capital Crossroads and Discovery SIDs. “It will be fun and exciting to see High Street shut down as this one-of-a-kind event comes to life.”
And there’s more!
During the festival, the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) will be in effect, allowing you to sip on drinks in specially designated cups while exploring the festivities. Some vendors will even have outdoor bars to keep the good times rolling.
