A new culinary destination has arrived that’s about to shake up the local dining scene with a taste of the South. Hank’s Low Country Seafood & Raw Bar, a beloved Charleston institution known for its exceptional seafood and warm hospitality, is now open in Columbus.

This marks an exciting first out-of-state expansion for the Makeready brand and a fresh culinary chapter for our city.

Led by the culinary expertise of Frank McMahon, who has been instrumental in the success of Hank’s Seafood in Charleston, the new location promises to bring authentic Southern cuisine to the heart of Ohio. With a menu that showcases the signature dishes Hank’s is famous for, like their revered She-Crab Soup and classic Shrimp & Grits, residents can expect to be transported straight to the South with every bite.

The Columbus menu also features fresh seafood flown in daily, highlighting dishes such as Pan Seared Sea Scallops, Seafood Al Wando, and the decadent Bouillabaisse. For those who prefer land to sea, there’s Seared Beef Tenderloin and Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Hank’s commitment to quality is evident in their partnership with local purveyor Michael’s Meats, ensuring every ingredient meets their high standards.

The design of Hank’s Columbus mirrors the inviting atmosphere of its Charleston counterpart. The dining room can host up to 158 guests, with additional cozy seating in the lounge and bar areas. The communal tables and banquette seating are designed to encourage conversation and make each meal feel like a gathering among friends.

Central to the restaurant is the vibrant Raw Bar, where guests can watch as expert shuckers prepare fresh oysters, shrimp, and crab. The Raw Bar isn’t just about dining; it’s a full sensory experience, blending visual delight with the exquisite tastes of the ocean.

The new lunch menu will feature dishes designed to deliver flavor and efficiency, perfect for a midday treat, including an express lunch option that promises a chef-inspired entrée served within 45 minutes.

In keeping with tradition, the dining room ambiance is enhanced by a curated music program featuring funk, R&B, and soul. The staff’s updated white serving jackets offer a nod to the classic charm diners have come to love at Hank’s Charleston location.
