5 Must-Try Menu Items At CMR’s El Segundo

I have to admit, I was a little shocked at how quickly I fell head over heels with El Segundo. The food, the service, the vibes, it is just the perfect package.

I was really fortunate to get a sneak peek of the space and the menu before they opened and to be honest, I couldn’t stop thinking about the place. So naturally, I went back as soon as they opened to the public and tried a variety of items on the menu.

Here are 5 that you absolutely have to try when you visit.

Classic Margarita
One of my favorite things about going to any Mexican restaurant is ordering their classic margarita. I feel like it’s a great way to set the tone for your visit. At El Segundo, you won’t be disappointed. They have a huge variety of tequila on the menu and a margarita is a perfect way to dip your toes in. Plus, it pairs well with nearly every dish on the menu. Bottoms up! PS: Sorry, I forgot to take a photo before I took a drink. It was worth it.

The Flatbread
I didn’t specify which kind of flatbread because honestly, it doesn’t matter. They’re all delicious. From the crispy, flaky flatbread itself to the flavorful toppings, this is a can’t-miss item. If you visit El Segundo on a Sunday night, you can snag these for half price through their Late Night Happy Hour special!

Barbacoa burrito
The highlight of so many dishes at El Segundo is the tortilla. All of the tortillas are made in-house and it’s an attention to detail that’s cannot be overstated. The burrito is filling and yummy, plus it comes with an additional side of rice in case you’re feeling ravenous.

Crispy Fish Tacos
I had these on my first visit to El Segundo and I am not exaggerating when I say, I haven’t stopped thinking about them since. I don’t even like fish tacos, but these were perfect. The flavor combination was out of this world and the fish was cooked to perfection.

Flan
Okay so to be honest, we didn’t even want the flan. I was all in on churros for dessert, but our server told us that even if we didn’t typically enjoy flan, we would love this flan. We decided to order both and the flan stole the show. It almost reminded me more of a cheesecake and the fresh fruit, whipped cream, and caramel just created a wonderful balance of flavors. Get dessert and get the flan. You won’t regret it.

El Segundo is open now. They’re located at 698 N. High Street in the Short North and you can make a reservation by visiting their website here.
