Need to spice up your Friday Night Pizza Night? Well, Donatos might have just come out with a solution to your bland, boring pizza order with their Hot Chicken Pizza.
Spicy hot chicken, pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, dill pickles, and a drizzle of ranch make this a southern cookout all-in-one pizza.
I picked up the pizza for lunch from the Donatos at 2800 E Main St. When I brought it back to the office, we all surrounded the pizza box, wondering just what we were about to get ourselves into.
So, here’s the deal. The pizza is just confusing. The Hot Chicken Pizza has a whirlwind of flavors and a different one in every bite. It’s hard to get all the flavors in one bite because the chicken, pickles, and jalapenos are spaced out on every piece. You can roll the piece of pizza into a little burrito just to get the full effect but it’s a bit of a mouthful.
But there I was, eating piece after piece. With every slice of pizza, I think this pie grew on me. This pizza keeps you guessing. One bite would deliver a crisp, crunchy pickle and the next would give you an eye-watering pepper.
The general consensus throughout the office was, “It was cool to try, but I don’t know if I would order it regularly.” That’s what will make this the perfect pizza or order to liven up your humdrum Pizza Night. It’s new. It’s got a lot to taste. And who knows, it could be your new favorite pizza!
We ate the entire thing, despite the uncertain feelings we shared about the Donatos’ Hot Chicken Pizza.
