The COSI Science Festival Is Back In Virtual Format

Once again, COSI will hold Ohio’s largest annual science event, the COSI Science Festival.

The virtual festival will be held May 5-8, 2021 and will include dozens of unique online events. Over the first three days of the festival, families, students, and self-described science nerds like myself can connect virtually through online programs and events. On May, the Big Science Celebration will be an at-home affair, with participants able to experience science activities at home as well as share those experiences on social media.

“Even though events still look a little different due to the pandemic, the COSI Science Festival continues to grow,” said Dr. Frederic Bertley, President and CEO of COSI. “Our 2020 virtual Festival impacted more than 116,000 people. By comparison, the inaugural in-person Festival in 2019 impacted more than 40,000. We look forward to when we can host an in-person Festival again but we are grateful for the tremendous opportunity to serve a wider audience through virtual offerings. We are working with our festival partners to create engaging digital science content for people to enjoy at home.”

The COSI Science Festival is the largest STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) event in the state. By partnering with businesses, schools, universities, leaders in science, non-profits, and museums, the Science Festival will be able to offer an incredible range of science events, from archaeology to zoology.

Several central Ohio communities have partnered with COSI for the festival, including Bexley, Circleville, Columbus, Delaware, Dublin, Franklinton, Gahanna, Grove City, Heath, London, Marysville, New Albany, Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Upper Arlington, Westerville, Whitehall, and Worthington.

For the first time ever, COSI will hold the John Glenn Inspiration Award celebration, which will honor the first award recipient through a virtual event during the festival. This award will be given annually to recognize an individual who has dedicated their life to inspiring others for the benefit of humankind.

Pencil the festival into your schedule and start planning now. It’s going to be fun for the whole family. You can get more info about the COSI Science Festival, by visiting cosi.org.
