It’s no secret that here at Columbus Navigator, we are pretty huge fans of tacos.
I love tacos. I consider them one of my essential food groups, and this city has exceeded my taco dreams. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for soft or hard tacos, corn or flour tortillas, spicy beef or juicy chicken… you can find the taco your heart desires.
You can only imagine my sincere disappointment when I found out that the 1st Annual Columbus Taco Fest is taking place on May 19, 2018. Why am I sad, you ask? Because that also happens to be the day of my wedding.
It goes without saying that I love my fiance more than I love tacos, but I’m so heartbroken that I can’t go and celebrate my favorite food. But those of you who aren’t attending my wedding are probably wondering, what exactly does the Columbus Taco Fest consist of?
It’s a free festival being held downtown at Genoa Park featuring all kinds of tacos, from “from avant-garde to al pastor”. Local restaurants and food trucks will be cooking up their most delicious dishes, all for your culinary delight.
Of course, you can’t have tacos without tequila. The event will have tequila drinks and tastings, as well as live music from all of your favorite locals. And the fun doesn’t stop there.
There will also be tons of fun activities throughout the day, including a Chihuahua (and non-chihuahua) costume contest, a taco eating contest, and a Hot Pepper Challenge.
The fest will kick off at noon on May 19 and go until 10 p.m. Again, admission is free so unless you’re also getting married, you really have no excuses. For more information, please click here.
Taco-bout a fun day, am I right?
