Vet care can get expensive fast. Even the basics add up, and it doesn’t take much for something routine to turn into something you put off a little longer than you should.
That’s why this update from Columbus Humane feels like such a big deal. Their community vaccine clinics are going fully free for the rest of the year, with dates scheduled across Franklin County from spring through fall.
The clinics will offer core vaccines for dogs and cats, including rabies, DAPP for dogs, and FVRCP for cats. At select stops, they’ll also have free pet food available, which can make a real difference for families trying to stay ahead of rising costs.

And these clinics already do a lot of heavy lifting in the community.
Last year, more than 3,300 animals were cared for through just nine events. This year, they’re expanding the schedule and removing the cost altogether, which means even more pets get what they need.
If you’re not able to make one of the pop-up dates, Columbus Humane’s Essential Care Center is open year-round with reduced-cost services like wellness exams, surgeries, and treatment for sick or injured pets. There’s also a pet food pantry on-site for anyone who needs it.

Here’s where the free clinics are popping up:
- May 26 | Potter’s House Church
- June 23 | Hilliard Fairgrounds
- July 21 | Hilliard Bradley High School
- August 18 | Vineyard Columbus
- September 24 | Historic Crew Stadium
- October 27 | Blacklick Woods Golf Course
All clinics run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pets should be leashed or in a crate, and while the vaccines are free, donations are always welcome.
It’s one of those resources that makes life easier for a lot of people and a lot of pets. And frankly, we could use more of that. To learn more about the program, head over to columbushumane.org/lowcostvaccineclinics.
