Say goodbye to flat hair, Short Northers. The Blowout Bar is coming your way.
If you don’t know what The Blowout Bar is, then I can honestly say that you’re missing out. This hair salon includes all of the best things about getting your hair done, a gentle and relaxing shampoo, a nice, warm blow-out, styling, and good company. What it doesn’t include are bangs that you’ll regret for the next 8 months.
This spring, The Blowout Bar will open their doors at 941 N High Street. The salon signed a ten-year lease with The Wood Companies. Owners Kristin DeJohn and Kailen Echeverry, who also happen to be sisters, fell in love with the idea of a blow-dry salon when they were on a trip to New York City.
When they got back to Columbus, DeJohn and Echeverry knew they wanted to open their own salon. In 2013, the first location opened in Grandview, followed by a Dublin location in 2014. Now, they’re opening their third spot in the Short North.
“We’ve had our hearts set on the Short North for years. We were just waiting for the perfect location,” said Kailen Echeverry, co-owner of The Blowout Bar. “We look forward to bringing our concept to the Short North and joining one of the most exciting neighborhoods in Columbus.”
The Blowout Bar in the Short North will channel a whole new energy, the kind that comes with moving into a bustling, urban neighborhood. Most of the new design elements will be sourced from local vendors.
The Blowout Bar will be open seven days a week and the owners plan on hosting pop-up events in the space to support other local businesses.
“The Wood Companies is thrilled to introduce The Blowout Bar to the Short North community,” said Mark Wood, president of Wood Companies, in a statement. “We remain committed to growing the locally-owned, independent retail presence in the neighborhood and we feel The Blowout Bar’s unique brand and services will be an ideal addition to the District.”
