Běndì Wok N’ Bar Is Open And Serving Up Delicious Asian Cuisine In German Village

After three long years, a new Asian restaurant has finally replaced Happy Dragon at 277 E. Livingston Ave.

If I sound like I’m being overdramatic, it’s probably because I am, a little. But living in the area, I can tell you that when it comes to Asian cuisine, our options were few and far between. I’m excited to say that not only has Běndì Wok N’ Bar opened, but their food is also freaking delicious.

Although they’re currently only open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday-Sunday, those hours will eventually expand and then you’ll be able to swing into this colorful, welcoming restaurant for lunch or dinner.

For now, visitors can come in for either dine-in or carry-out service. The restaurant itself is vibrant. The staff is abundantly friendly and there are obvious COVID-19 precautions in place throughout the space, including plastic dividers between guests.

There’s a lot of variety on the menu at Běndì Wok N’ Bar. If you’re looking for take-out staples like Sweet and Sour Chicken or General Tso’s, you’ll find them. But you can also branch out a little. There are curry options that you can get as a Roti roll or in a bowl, Vietnamese bahn mi, and noodle dishes like Pad Thai.

I wanted to try something I’d never had before, so I went with the Short Rib Bahn Mi. We ordered carryout and I was a little worried that the bread wouldn’t keep that crisp outside, but it actually held up very well.

The short rib was perfectly seasoned and tender and I honestly could have consumed an entire plate of the pickled veggies that came on the sandwich. It was served with french fries and I couldn’t help but think that even the pickiest of my friends would enjoy this menu item.

If you plan on ordering carryout as well, Běndì Wok N’ Bar made the whole experience feel safe and organized. They have a seperate carryout entrance on the S 6th Street side of the building where you can pick up your food without having to go into the rest of the restaurant.

I can’t wait to come back and grab a cocktail from their extensive drinks menu, where they have everything from hot & cold sake to mocktails and everything in between. If you’d like some more info about Běndì Wok N’ Bar, you can visit their website here.
