University City Kroger On Olentangy River Road Is Closing For Business

Come October, there will be one less Kroger in the Capital City.

A familiar staple in the Columbus community will be shuttering its doors for good come this time next month. The University City Kroger, located at 2913 Olentangy River Road, will be closing for business on October 16. The store has served the surrounding area for 53 years and has employed up to 63 workers and associates.
The closing comes as a part of the property owner’s decision to overhaul and redevelop the entire University City shopping center. The new site will include a completely redone commercial area as well as a housing complex for residents.

The grocery stores fuel center will also be closing that same day with the company urging customers to visit the next closest location, at 1375 Chambers Road, to redeem any accrued fuel points.

The Kroger associates currently employed at the University City location will be given the option to transfer to any of the surrounded Kroger locations which include 23 stores total in the Central Ohio area.
