Swig, the Utah dirty soda chain, has filed plans to take over the former Rally’s at 1939 Stringtown Rd. in Grove City. Grove City Councilmember Jodi Burroughs, who holds one of council’s at-large seats, broke the news on her council Facebook page on Sunday, October 11th. She wrote that Swig has submitted plans to occupy the old drive-thru and called it a “proposed location.”
It would be Swig’s first shop in Ohio. The chain currently has 183 locations. The closest to date are around Indianapolis and Louisville.
A dirty soda is a fountain drink with flavored syrup, fruit, puree or cream mixed in. Nicole Tanner and her husband opened the first Swig in a small building in St. George, Utah, on April 2, 2010. The menu now also carries water-based drinks it calls Refreshers and a line of energy drinks. Nearly all of Swig’s shops are drive-thrus.

That Rally’s was reported closed in mid-August without a word from the chain. The address quietly dropped off the Rally’s website, and by late August the sign was coming down. Eight Rally’s are still open in Franklin County, and the ones on Parsons Avenue and Georgesville Road are now the closest for the southwest side.
Swig is majority-owned by the Larry H. Miller Company, the Utah real estate and entertainment investor that took control from the Savory Fund. The chain signed a 25-shop franchise deal in South Florida in April. When KSL profiled the company in January 2025, it had 104 shops in 14 states and a stated goal of at least 1,000 by 2030.
For now it’s a proposal. The plans are submitted, not approved, with no opening time frame revealed so far.
