Are you ready for a week full of experiments, learning, and fun? Because it’s coming soon, and it all culminates in a one-of-a-kind science party.
The Big Science Celebration returns to COSI on Saturday, May 2, 2026, bringing a full day of hands-on experiments, live demos, and interactive exhibits to the Scioto Peninsula. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and, as always, it’s completely free.
More than 100 exhibitor stations will line the area around COSI, giving visitors the chance to explore everything from robotics and genetics to geology and wildlife. You and the kiddos can talk with experts, try experiments yourself, and get a closer look at how science shows up in everyday life.
Big names like the Columbus Zoo, the Columbus Museum of Art, Bath & Body Works, and even the Franklin County Coroner’s Office will be there, along with dozens of local organizations, schools, and agencies. There’s also a full lineup of food trucks, live performances, and plenty of space to wander and explore at your own pace.

The Big Science Celebration is the grand finale of a week packed with events across Central Ohio.
The COSI Science Festival runs April 29 through May 1, with community events happening all over the region. You might find yourself at a science trivia night, a nature walk, a hands-on workshop, or even a behind-the-scenes tour. The idea is simple. Science is everywhere, and this festival brings it out into the open.
Thousands are expected to attend the May 2 celebration, which takes place outdoors on the streets and green space surrounding COSI at 333 W. Broad St. It’s a rain-or-shine event, so dress for the weather and plan to spend some time exploring.
COSI will be open that day if you want to head inside, but general admission still applies. Otherwise, everything happening outside is free and open to all ages.
