That half-empty bottle in your medicine cabinet? The one you keep meaning to deal with? Now’s your chance.
On Saturday, April 25, Kroger locations across Central Ohio will be taking part in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, giving you a safe and easy way to get rid of unused or expired medications.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at select pharmacies.
Law enforcement officers will be on-site to collect items like pills, liquids, gels, and patches. (Quick note: drop-offs happen outside the store, not inside.)
Properly disposing of medications helps prevent accidental misuse, keeps drugs out of the wrong hands, and protects the environment from contamination.
The initiative is part of a nationwide effort led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and locally supported by Cardinal Health Foundation. Over the years, these events have quietly made a big impact. Kroger Health alone has helped collect more than 234,000 pounds of unused medication since 2018.
If you’ve never done this before, it’s about as simple as it gets.
Gather up old prescriptions, swing by a participating location, and drop them off. No paperwork, no hassle.
Participating locations include stores in Columbus, Hilliard, Gahanna, Grove City, Pickerington, Westerville, and more, so chances are there’s one not too far from you. To view a complete list of Kroger Health drug take back event locations, please click here.
It’s one of those small errands that doesn’t take much time, but actually does some good.
