Gay Street Is Turning Into A Winter Wonderland For One Day Only

If you’re looking for something festive to do this weekend, Gay Street is the place to be! For one day only, the bustling Downtown Columbus street will transform into a pedestrian-only winter wonderland packed with holiday cheer.

Expect all the holiday vibes, including an iceless ice rink (yes, you read that right) with complimentary skate rentals, live ice sculpture carving, and a DJ spinning festive beats to keep the party going. When you need a break from all the action, warm up with some tea or hot cocoa from Posh Tea Time or grab a bite from Fun’l Frenzy and Schmidt’s Sausage food trucks.

Of course, a street festival isn’t complete without a drink in hand.

Thanks to the Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), you can sip as you stroll with beverages available from local spots like Hank’s, The Citizens Trust’s “Miracle” holiday pop-up, Veritas, and Chouette.

Feeling fancy? Chouette will serve French beer and wine, while Hank’s will offer boozy hot chocolate and other specialty cocktails. Bonus: Both Chouette and Hank’s are shaking up holiday cocktails that support Nationwide Children’s Hospital, so you can sip for a cause.

Aracri Pizza is serving up a cozy combo of meatballs, cheese, and marinara sauce in a cup paired with a 16 oz draft beer for $17. Meanwhile, Schmidt’s Sausage Truck is getting into the holiday spirit with a Candy Cane-flavored cream puff. Yep, it’s as festive as it sounds.

And don’t forget to soak up the winter magic at the Current art installation and the Gay Street parklet.

So grab your friends, bundle up, and head downtown this Saturday for a merry and gay time on Gay Street.
