As winter sets in and temperatures drop, Columbus is taking steps to ensure no one has to brave the cold alone. The Community Shelter Board (CSB) has opened seven warming centers across the city, providing a safe haven for those seeking relief from the harsh weather. These centers will remain open until March 31, offering a lifeline for those in need.
What Are Warming Centers?
Warming centers are more than just a warm place to escape the chill. They serve as critical resources, offering daytime refuge and nighttime shelter for individuals who may not feel comfortable in traditional emergency shelters. Beyond warmth, they connect visitors to vital services and support.
Who Can Use Warming Centers?
Warming centers welcome a diverse range of individuals, including:
- Couples without children
- People with pets
- Chronically homeless adults or youth
- Those struggling with addiction
- Members of the LGBTQI+ community
- Survivors of human trafficking
No matter your circumstances, these centers are here to help.
