This spring, the Park of Roses in Clintonville invites you to embark on a delightful adventure: the Squirrel Door Project.
Brought to life by the Clintonville Arts Guild, this enchanting installation features 25 artist-crafted miniature doors nestled at the bases of trees throughout the park. Each door offers a peek into the imaginative world of its squirrel inhabitant, complete with QR codes that share their whimsical tales and information about the trees they call home.
Inspired by the fairy door tradition and the original Squirrel Door Trail at Spiegel Grove, this project blends storytelling, art, and nature.
Visitors can follow a map to locate each door, turning a simple park stroll into an engaging treasure hunt.
The stories behind the doors are as diverse as their designs—from Atticus Finch, a squirrel who journeyed to the Park of Roses seeking a better life, to Ruby, a red squirrel who found solace in a Northern Red Oak.
Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, the Squirrel Door Project offers a unique way to connect with nature and community art. So grab your walking shoes, charge your phone for QR scanning, and set out to discover the charming world hidden within Whetstone Park.
