If you’ve ever sprinted through John Glenn International with nothing but a granola bar and a prayer, you’ll be happy to know the food situation is getting an upgrade.

Donatos, aka one of our OG pizza legends, is launching its first fully autonomous restaurant at the airport.

That’s right: robot pizza.

The new grab-and-go spot is open now in front of Concourse B, just before security, and will operate 24/7. So, whether you’ve got a 6 a.m. flight or a midnight layover, you’ll be able to watch your pie get assembled and baked by a robotic chef that doesn’t take breaks and never forgets the pepperoni.

The project is a team effort between Donatos, its sister company Agápe Automation, tech partner Appetronix, and airport dining operator HMSHost. While the setup might look like a fancy vending machine at first glance, it’s actually a mini pizza factory — complete with a window into the process so you can watch the magic happen while your boarding group is still “not quite ready.”

And if you’re wondering whether this newfangled pizza bot can actually deliver on flavor, Donatos says not to worry. It’s the same recipe, same ingredients, and same obsessive focus on quality.

“We’re not just adding tech to a restaurant,” said Donatos President and CEO Kevin King. “We’re jumping in with a fully autonomous one.”

Of course, all of this is part of a bigger shift in airport dining. More travelers, tighter timelines, and fewer options make fast, consistent, and actually tasty food a pretty big deal — and a robot-run Donatos could be just the thing to deliver it.

While this is the first fully autonomous Donatos location, it likely won’t be the last. The company sees potential for similar setups in hospitals, colleges, and anywhere else people are hungry and in a hurry.

So next time you’re flying out of Columbus, give yourself a few extra minutes to stop by the future — it smells like fresh pizza.
