Pet owners know the struggle. The moment before you leave for happy hour drinks when your pup is looking up at you with big eyes, wishing you’d stay home or hit the park instead of heading out the door without them. Are you unfamiliar with the look? Let me share with you.
Look familiar? What about this one?
Leaving your pet behind sucks and everyone knows it.
Hi, I spend 3 minutes every day choosing a TV channel to leave on for my dog, then I go to work and people take me seriously as an adult.

So what if you don’t have to? Columbus is such a pet-friendly city. Since the passing of a new law allowing dogs in outdoor areas of restaurants, there are plenty of patio options for your well-behaved pup to accompany you to a bite with a friend or happy hour drinks. So grab the leash and hit the road. Here are the best pup friendly patios in Columbus!
Land-Grant was instrumental in helping to get legislation passed, allowing your furry friend to hit the pub with you. Their outdoor space is already perfect, but there are plans in the works to add a massive beer garden this summer. More space for more pups. Sounds like heaven, no?
Healthy food and room for your puppy. What else could you want? North Star Cafe has been a Short North favorite for years, and now that you can bring your well-behaved pups, you really don’t have an excuse to show up.
Great drinks. Good friends. Amazing dogs. Bodega is a happening joint, and by allowing dogs on the patio, it elevates the awesomeness that is this Short North bar.
For the homegrown food lovers, The Crest is the perfect place to spend some quality time with your doggo and grab a few drinks after a long day. If you and your pup find yourselves in Clintonville, head over to Crestview and Indianola for some yummy eats.
Seventh Son Brewery has one of the largest patios in the city, so there is plenty of room for you and your furry friend. Grab yourself an American Strong Ale and some water for your dog and enjoy whatever weather Ohio throws at you!
This dog is smiling because his mom brought him out to one of the best bars in north Columbus for a beer and plenty of attention from other bargoers at Fourth Street Bar & Grill.
Margaritas and Puppies are two of my favorite things ever. If you agree, then you’ll want to take your dog down to Local Cantina in Grandview. Any day of the week, your fur baby can accompany you to the patio for a little tex-mex, but we recommend Taco Tuesdays.
Oddfellows is one of the most dog-friendly establishments in the capital city. Well behaved dogs are always welcome, and the bar often hosts dog events. So whether you’re coming in for trivia or happy hour, grab your pup, because you’re both welcome at Oddfellows.
BrewDog knows the importance of dogs in the lives of their employees, which is why they even offer puppy parental leave when any of their workers bring home a new pup! For the guests, you and your dog are always welcome on the patio at any of their DogTap locations around the city. In fact, the brewery recently launched a program for dog parties, including beer and cakes specifically designed for your best friend and all of her furry friends.
Now, who’s ready for a drink?
