Over the years, we’ve discovered some unique accommodations throughout Ohio.
From converted storage containers to canopy treehouses, Ohio’s tourism slogan really rings true when it comes to interesting places to say. Ohio, you really can find it here. Every time I’m convinced that we’ve seen the most interesting or unique property, something comes along to prove me wrong.
This time, this amazing Lustron house in Dayton has edged into the top spot, and for good reason. It’s an absolute time capsule. Just in case you’ve never heard of a Lustron home, let me give you some back story.
These enameled steel homes were built by the Lustron Corporation during the post-WWII housing boom. The Lustron Plant was right here in Columbus and between 1948-1950, 2,498 pre-fabricated Lustron homes were constructed.
This particular home, located in West Alexandria, Ohio, is a 1,000 square foot model. Built in 1949, the home is decorated with period furniture and accessories and has loads of original features.
