The New Hilton Tower Is All About Glitz And Glam

The new Hilton Columbus Downtown tower has officially opened, making it the largest hotel in Ohio.

Combined with the first tower, Hilton Columbus Downtown no offers 1,000 guest rooms, over 75,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space, and four new restaurants and bars.

Situated perfectly between the Short North, Arena District, and Downtown Columbus, the hotel will be the perfect place for visitors to call home while they’re exploring Columbus. The new tower also connects via sky bridge to the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

“Our increased capacity and connection to the Greater Columbus Convention Center will perfectly situate our property, and city, to become a destination for major events and conferences,” said Christian Coffin, general manager, Hilton Columbus Downtown. “The new tower not only offers breathtaking views, a centrally located space to stay, and unique dining experiences, but a true foundation upon which visitors and locals alike can enjoy in our capital city.”

The main lobby of the hotel is now located in the new tower, with a massive porte-cochère acting as the front door to the property. The massive circular lobby acts as a sort of gathering space, connecting the property and making it easier for guests to navigate the various spaces around the hotel.

The design is elegant and timeless. The beauty of the hotel is elevated by the nearly $2.5 million worth of art that you’ll find throughout both towers. In the new tower, there are 199 pieces of original art by Central Ohio artists.

There are 463 guest rooms in the new tower each with lovely local touches that can be found in the color palette and art collection. James Thurber’s famous “Thurber Dog with Flower” is also featured in each guest room, showcasing how dogs are “sound creatures in a crazy world”.

While they aren’t available quite yet, the hotel will offer two Skyline suites later this fall. The suites were purposefully designed to feel like a “penthouse in the sky” and come complete with a butler’s pantry and wraparound windows throughout.

If travelers are looking for larger group accommodations, there is also an option to connect up to three guest rooms to combine them into one apartment-style unit with a common foyer door.

The expansion of Hilton Columbus Downtown introduces three new food and beverage concepts – FYR, Spark, and Stories on High – led by Sebastian La Rocca, executive chef of restaurants, Hilton Columbus Downtown. Born in Argentina with Italian roots, Chef La Roccahas worked with some of the world’s most distinguished chefs at Barbecoa London by Jamie Oliver and Zodiac UK by Michael Roux.

The signature restaurant of the tower is FYR, a delicious spot serving up an American menu with Latin influence. The menu is locally sourced with seasonal ingredients and cooked over a live-fire grill. The elevated dishes on offer include grilled bone marrow with sea urchin, “chimi hendrix” sauce, pangrattato & herbs, ember cooked jumbo shrimp with sofrito rojo & red onion jus, filet mignon with burnt vegetable sauce & oven roasted onions, and caramel flan with dulce de leche.

Spark will have more of a Midwest-style menu, as well as classic cocktails and local beer. It’s perfect for happy hour or a drink with friends after a convention or meeting.

Stories on High has gotten most of the hype, and for good reason. Located on the 28th floor, it’s officially the tallest rooftop bar in the city. There are two outdoor terraces and soon, guests will be able to enjoy a perfectly crafted cocktail, a glass of wine, or sall plates with a Japanese influence.

Sushi and a cocktail with sweeping views of the city? Yes, please!
