In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Aaron Blevins, the owner of Gluten-Free Biscuits By Daddy-O, shared the devastating news that a fire broke out in their facility, forcing the beloved Columbus bakery to temporarily close its doors at 821 E Long St.
The incident occurred overnight last week, when a device with lithium batteries caught fire and exploded, causing significant damage to a portion of the location.
“We are trying to assess the full damage today and determine how this will impact us. Thankfully, no staff were hurt in the process,” Blevins wrote in a statement shared on social media last week.
While it’s a relief that no one was injured, the fire has temporarily halted the production of their popular biscuit mix and sales at their Columbus biscuit shop.
The fire has had a profound impact on their small facility, necessitating the disposal of all food, ingredients, and supplies on hand.

“Because of the damage and debris from the fire, we are unable to go back into this facility for an unknown amount of time,” Blevins explained.
Despite this setback, Blevins and his team are working diligently to find a temporary location in the Columbus area to resume production and shipping as soon as possible. The owner expressed confidence that there would be positive news to share on this front in the coming week.
The fire has affected not only the business but also the livelihood of their nine staff members.
Blevins acknowledged the challenging situation for his team and emphasized the importance of community support during this difficult time.
“We are a small, family business who cannot continue to operate without the unwavering support of you, our customers. Many of whom have been with us for more than 3 years. Your support and encouragement during this time does not go unnoticed,” he said.
The bakery is doing their best to complete outstanding orders.

For customers with outstanding mix orders, Blevins reassured them that efforts are being made to expedite the resumption of production. “Please know that we are working as quickly as possible to get our production back up and running,” he noted.
As the community rallies behind Gluten-Free Biscuits By Daddy-O, the team remains committed to overcoming this setback and returning stronger than ever. For those with questions or concerns, Blevins invited them to reach out through their website, biscuitsbydaddyo.com, or via their Facebook page.
