Experience Hands-On Science at COSI’s Annual Festival

If you’ve ever wanted to see a bucket truck up close, extract strawberry DNA, or meet a robot, mark your calendar now. The Big Science Celebration is back on May 3, 2025, and it’s ready to blow your mind, for free!

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Scioto Peninsula around COSI will transform into a massive, hands-on science playground with over 100 exhibitor stations. You’ll dive into interactive activities hosted by real STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) professionals, researchers, and experts from across Central Ohio — and beyond.

It’s the grand finale of the four-day COSI Science Festival, which takes over Ohio from April 30 to May 3. Leading up to the big event, there will be community STEAM happenings popping up in towns across the state, from Bexley to Westerville.

At the Big Science Celebration, you’ll find live performances, food trucks, and a whole day packed with discovery and creativity.

Some of the can’t-miss stations include Battelle, Honda, NASA Glenn Research Center, Ohio State University, the Columbus Zoo, and even the Franklin County Coroner’s Office (yes, you read that right).

No matter your age, there’s something here to spark your imagination — from drone demos and wild wetlands to forensic science and the secrets of stormwater.

The event is free, open to all, and happening rain or shine. Bring your curiosity, maybe a tote bag for freebies, and get ready to tinker, build, explore, and have a blast.
