There’s nothing on this planet that will warm you up faster than a bite of delicious, Creole food.
That’s an especially handy fact to know as the temperatures start dropping here in Columbus. Luckily, I just happen to know about a delicious little Creole spot where you can warm up.
Creole 2 Geaux is just one of the many fantastic vendors at the East Market. With a menu full of Creole classics and a daiquiri bar next door, it’s almost like you’re taking a little trip to New Orleans.
The restaurant started as a food truck before expanding into the East Market, and before we know it, they’ll be open at their new spot at 401 N. Front St. in the Arena District. Now that we’ve got all the details out of the way, let’s dive into the reason you all clicked: the food.
When Cajun and Creole food is on the menu and it’s a little chilly outside, there’s only one choice you can make, and that’s gumbo. Tender rice served in warm, dynamic broth, full of delicious bites of shrimp, and chicken, and topped with a crab claw, it doesn’t get much more comforting than that.
Unless, of course, your idea of comfort is mac and cheese. In which case, it does get more comforting and you can still find it on the menu at Creole 2 Geaux.
The jambalaya mac and cheese was basically perfection. The dish was creamy and flavorful and you could taste the home-cooked love that was poured into it.
Of course, the experience is only enhanced by popping to the stall next door, NOLA Daq Shack, for a daiquiri. There are several different flavors to choose from. They come topped with a variety of different candies and since they’re non-alcoholic, you can even bring the kids along.
If you’d like to give yours that adult edge, you can take it with you to the bar at The Railhouse where they can add some liquor for you.
The East Market is located at 212 Kelton Ave, Columbus, OH 43205. To learn more about Creole 2 Geaux, or to start planning your visit to the East Market, visit creole2geaux.com.
