Is anybody else a little too excited about Adventure Cove at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium?
The latest addition to the zoo will be the largest aquatic habitat at the Columbus Zoo, consisting of 375,000 gallons of water. Adventure Cove will be the new home of sea lions and seals and will have a west coast vibe.
The enclosure will have large rocks for the animals to bask in the sun and a 60-foot-long tunnel where guests can walk under the water to see the seals and sea lions swimming beside them. Part of the tunnel will even include an acrylic floor so the animals can glide underneath as well.
Adventure Cove will also have a presentation pool where the Animal Programs staff will work with the animals and share their behavior with guests. The grandstand at the pool will seat 250 guests and the Animal Encounters Village will be nearby where visitors can interact with some of the zoo’s inhabitants.
There’s no specific opening date for Adventure Cove yet, but guests can expect to get their first glimpses of the new region at the end of spring or early summer 2020.
